The "Hıdrellez" tradition, which has been going on for centuries in the Edremit district of Balıkesir and could not be held for 2 years due to the epidemic, is kept alive by Tahtacı Turkmens.Tahtacı Turkmens come together in the cemetery of Tahtakuşlar Neighborhood, on the skirts of Kazdağları, as part of the tradition of "Hıdırellez", which they have been continuing for centuries, since the first hours of the morning. Turkmens pray here for their past generations. In the Hıdrellez event, which has been held for centuries to bring together past and future generations, Tahtacı Turkmens offer coffee, cookies and candies to each other, cooked over wood fire.
Elif Kar, a resident of Tahtakuşlar village, said, "We have postponed our Hıdırellez for 2 years due to the pandemic, we could not do it, but this year, God willing, they allowed us to go on this road. We do this every year on 6-7 May, as a ritual, not to forget our elderly people, to introduce our elderly to our future." It's not complete," he said.
